"The Indiana Jones of Jeans"

I've been buying vintage clothing for over 3 decades. I've gone to the ends of the earth (and especially under) to find some of the best pieces, but I don't know why it never occurred to make myself easily contactable. Well, better late than never. I buy all sorts of stuff, bulk made in USA Levi's, old signage, anything cool, but my favorite is the really amazing stuff. The older the better, mine found, pulled out of an attic, brand new with tags-- I want it. I specialize in older clothing, think 1970s and back. I'm based in Durango Colorado, but if the stuff is really awesome, I'll go anywhere and do what it takes to make the deal happen.

The Treasure Trove

ABOUT ME

02-noname (6).webp

You might know me from my numerous television appearances, my Discovery channel show, the GQ articles, the overseas biographies, my famed Festivus Vintage Festival, or maybe you met me at a small town bar during one of my adventures. All I know is the hunt for vintage clothing has consumed my life for the last 30 years. Between those early days and now, I’ve had a million amazing stories, and I can even remember a handful of them too. And like many great stories, my start was not so glamorous.

I was always an industrious kid, and that led me in taking up all sorts of entrepreneurial ventures. I’ve bought everything. I’ve sold everything. I’ve made it big, and then I've lost it even bigger. By 1997, I was the vintage Levi’s guy in town. I used to sell at flea markets every weekend, but since my car was repossessed, I'd have to rollerblade there with this comically large overfilled backpack that made me walk like a hunch back. Imagine, it’s a 100 degree Florida day, so humid its hard to breath, the black top is burning your feet through your worn out shoes, there’s a line of cars miles long all idling with their AC on, and your there, feeling like a moron, inhaling all these fumes.

But by sheer determination and a lot of dumb luck, I’ve excelled. My big break, and probably how you’ve heard about me, came in 2003, when serendipitously, I came into contact with mine explorers out of Salt Lake City. This combined two things I loved, risking my life, and treasure hunting. To say I was hooked would be an understatement. For 5 years, I honed my craft until I finally was in the right place at the right time and found the mother load of pre-1910 clothing. In the mining world it's called a trashshute, but to me it was El Dorado. Over 500 pieces of clothing pack in this vertical 400 feet deep mine shaft. I pulled some of the most amazing things out of that mine: 1880s levis, 1880s Boss of the road, Strongholds,The Boss, Jackets, Jeans, everything.

But unfortunately, as a mortgage holder with two young kids, I was not in the position to keep any of this stuff. Today, I would give my left leg for some of those pieces, and that's what I’ve been doing for the last decade. Compiling some of the best vintage pieces in the world for my collection, and that was the motivation behind this website. I’ve put my life on the line. I’ve almost fallen 150 feet in a collapsing mine shaft. I’ve gotten blood poisoning. I’ve encountered I don’t even know how many rattle snakes. I’ve done unknown damage to my brain and body– all in pursuit of vintage clothing. So all this to say, if you have anything special, especially any really old denim or work wear, please reach out. I’d love to buy it.
